A collection of COGS records including research files, background information on unions and organizing efforts, student assistantship salary information, meeting minutes, membership lists, newspaper clippings, campaign flyers and brochures, a journal kept by Mark Stemen, correspondence and training manuals for canvassers, lists of contacts and activists, questionnaires, reports and 35mm negatives showing COGS headquarters and workers. Also included in the collection is a recording of an interview by Dennis Deslippe with John Scacht regarding earlier (1968-69) efforts to unionize graduate students at the University of Iowa.

Himie Voxman is among UI's most honored faculty and administrators. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the UI with high distinction in 1933, and received a master's degree in 1934 in the psychology of music, studying with pioneering researcher Carl Seashore.
